Heather was born shortsighted so had a limited view of life for her first few years.  Finally someone realised she needed spectacles and she discovered there was a whole new world at the end of the street.  So optometry was the perfect choice of career.  With new technologies and continued education there have been new challenges and the job remains as exciting as it was early on.

When not at work, Heather can be found playing her fiddle with gusto for Scottish dances, exploring the Outer Hebrides and learning Gaelic.

Specialty interests: low vision, children's vision, advanced contact lenses (including keratoconus)

He has since worked in practices in Wellington, Auckland, Adelaide and throughout southern England and Wales. Education and study is a big part of working as an optometrist and in addition to his initial training he has studied at City University, London and has also completed his post-graduate certificate in ocular therapeutics.

You will also find Hadyn at Middlemore Hospital where he works in the glaucoma clinic on Fridays.

He is also a Teaching Fellow/ Clinic Supervisor at the University of Auckland where he is involved in teaching optometry students in their specialty contact lens clinic and is the lead investigator in various research studies.
